Inland Burnett Cropping
Cropping in the inland Burnett is both abundant and diverse. Both dryland and irrigated grain, pulse and fodder cropping is predominately located on the floodplain areas of the major river and creek systems. Traditional field crops grown include lucerne, barley, wheat, sorghum and pasture legumes. Many growers have diversified into or are using bean crops such as soya and navy beans in their rotational plan.
The central Burnett is home to one of the leading citrus producing regions in Australia. Other horticulture such as blueberries, grapes, stone fruit, pecans and mangoes are also grown in the Central and South Burnett areas.
